HV Forecast: More Heat, Humidity — Plus Possible Thunderstorms, Hail

The region will officially be in a heat wave Thursday once the temperature reaches 90 degrees.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — It will continue to be hot and humid in the Hudson Valley Thursday as temperatures climb to 90 degrees and above.

A heat advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. Thursday throughout the Hudson Valley.

For Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties, the heat index values will be in the upper 90s to around 100.

For Columbia, Ulster and Dutchess counties, heat index values could range from 95 to 99 degrees.

Besides the heat and humidity, there is the chance of thunderstorms Thursday, according to the weather service.

For the mid-Hudson Valley, the risk of thunderstorms is marginal to slight, but any thunderstorm will be capable of producing damaging winds or hail as it moves west to east across the area for the late morning through early evening hours Thursday.

For the rest of the region, scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible after 11 a.m. Thursday. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds.

Any precipitation will only drop the temperature temporarily unfortunately.
