Metro-North Offers Early Getaway Trains To Start Memorial Day Weekend

Some Friday evening trains will be canceled so equipment can be reallocated.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Are you looking to get away early for the long Memorial Day weekend?

Metro-North Railroad has you covered with nine extra trains Friday afternoon, May 26 on its East and West of Hudson lines to accommodate people heading out early for the three-day weekend.

Some trains between 5:25 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. will be canceled so equipment can be reallocated for Memorial Day weekend travel patterns, a spokesperson said.

On Saturday, May 27, Metro-North will operate on a normal Saturday schedule. On Sunday, May 28, the railroad will run on a normal Sunday schedule.

On Memorial Day, Monday, May 29, Metro-North will operate on a Sunday schedule. On the Port Jervis Line, there will be an extra train departing Port Jervis at 4:05 p.m., stopped at all stations between Port Jervis and Suffern, then express to Secaucus Junction and Hoboken.

New Canaan Branch customers are reminded that substitute bus service will replace all train service to accommodate track improvements this summer. Bus substitutions will begin Tuesday, May 30.
