The Westchester County Democratic Committee (WCDC) has overwhelmingly voted to endorse Mondaire Jones in his race to once again represent the Lower Hudson Valley in New York's 17th congressional district. Jones was unanimously endorsed by the Rockland County Democratic Committee earlier this year, along with over 140 in-district and national supporters. Neither of Jones’ Democratic primary opponents have yet to announce any in-district endorsers.

“The Westchester County Democratic Committee is proud to endorse Mondaire Jones," said WCDC Chair Suzanne Berger. "As a member of congress, Mondaire brought hundreds of millions of dollars to the 17th District for schools, housing, health care, and infrastructure, as well as transformative community projects," she explained, noting Jones effectively advocated on behalf of constituents across his district by lowering prescription drug costs, funding law enforcement at record levels, passing significant gun safety legislation, and negotiating passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

"Incumbent Rep. Mike Lawler has accomplished nothing positive for the 17th District, and in fact has made life worse," Berger continued. " While masquerading as a moderate on television, he voted to make MAGA extremist Mike Johnson Speaker of the House, and he has voted against abortion without exception for rape or incest."

"We need Mondaire back in Congress, where he has a pragmatic record of delivering results, and we look forward to working alongside him as he builds a people-powered campaign to save our democracy, keep us safe, lower costs, and protect basic freedoms,” Berger added.

“I am grateful to the Westchester County Democratic Committee for its endorsement,” Jones stated. “From Clarkstown to Pound Ridge, I know every corner of this county is yearning for better, results-oriented leadership in Congress, and I intend to once again provide the Lower Hudson Valley the representation it deserves. We will defeat the wolf in sheep’s clothing, Mike Lawler, and the man he worked to elect and then re-elect as President, Donald Trump. Both men are a clear and present danger to our democracy, our safety, our livelihoods, and our basic freedoms.”

Jones' grassroots campaign has earned support from Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, U.S. Representative Pat Ryan (D-NY), the Congressional Black Caucus PAC, the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC, and Equality PAC (political arm of the Congressional LGBTQ Equality Caucus), along with a number of new in-district endorsements in the past few weeks. Jones’ fundraising results and strong support within the district put him in position to take on Mike Lawler in the general election, which Punchbowl News recently wrote was one of the top five House races that will determine which party is in power in Congress this cycle.

New York’s 17th Congressional District includes northern Westchester County, all of Rockland and Putnam Counties, and part of Dutchess County.
