NYSP Still Investigating Death Of 15-Year-Old NJ Girl

CORTLANDT, NY — The New York State Police are continuing to investigate the death of a 15-year-old New Jersey girl.

On Nov. 14, 1970, troopers found the remains of Alice Lezan of Franklin Township, New Jersey. Her body was bound with rope inside a red sleeping bag at the bottom of a 60-foot drop near Camp Smith, off Bear Mountain Road in Cortlandt.

Lezan’s body was first discovered in March 1970 by a boy walking in the woods, but his parents didn’t believe his story.

He returned with friends on Nov. 14, 1970, after which his parents contacted the state police.

Lezan’s death was ruled a homicide, police said, and she was identified using dental records.

She was last seen on Sept. 24, 1969, near a hotel on West 48th Street in New York City. She was wearing gray and white pants with a purple shirt.

Lezan was last seen with a man believed to have tried to lure her into prostitution.

Investigators from the state police Cortlandt continue to ask for the public’s assistance to solve this homicide and bring peace to Lezan and her family.
