To help the public get to know the candidates for the Cortland town board, Patch sent them the same set of questions. Here are White’s responses.

Why are you seeking this office?

I am fighting for an affordable community and a sustainable future for all of us. I believe ALL Cortlandt residents deserve to have their voices heard and be represented by leaders who are sensitive to their issues and truly care about them. A board member must represent the residents of Cortlandt, not just a special interest group.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidate(s) seeking this post?

As a business development executive, I am an entrepreneurial thinker with excellent skills. My experience with identifying prospects and helping develop solutions that will drive clinical, operational and financial ROI for hospitals, nursing homes and assisted living facilities will serve the Town of Cortlandt well. I have demonstrated leadership experience for decision-making at the town board level, including roles with the Westchester East Putnam Region PTA and the Furnace Woods Elementary PTA. I am excited to continue the advancements our community is already making while bringing in fresh ideas and perspectives on how to make our town even better while protecting our environment and keeping our citizens safe.

What is the single most pressing issue facing your constituents and what do you intend to do about it?

One of the most pressing issues facing our constituents is Economic Development. I believe we can retain the character of our community while growing in a way that anticipates and accommodates future requirements, all while being mindful of local neighborhood needs and infrastructure capacity. I will actively seek investment in our town while simultaneously working with residents to make sure those investments fit within community standards.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

Affordable housing is another issue I intended to address during my campaign — creating more affordable & workforce housing.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

The following examples in my professional career will demonstrate that I handle the responsibility of Town Councilwoman: As a Business Development Executive in the healthcare industry, my accomplishments have been to successfully identify problems and solve them. I am known for introducing, implementing and optimizing marketing systems within a hospital system. I have experience in saving money for my company as a community liaison by building strong professional partnerships within the community. As a Certified Dementia Practitioner, I organized special projects with the Alzheimer's Association to educate and build awareness about senior health in our community.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

"It's okay to agree to disagree with the understanding and believing that we have more in common than we do indifference." — Rev. Dr. Howard-John Wesley

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

It is imperative that children and seniors have a strong advocate on the Cortlandt Town Board.
