Peekskill Makes Me Merry Holiday Celebration Announced

Annual Tree Lighting Features Live Performances; New Holiday Stroll Launched

The 2018 Peekskill Makes Me Merry holiday celebration, sponsored by the Peekskill Business Improvement District, starts Saturday, December 1, 2018 in Downtown Peekskill with the Annual Peekskill Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Gazebo on the corner of Division and Park Streets at 4pm. New this year—the first ever Holiday Stroll—is being organized and presented by nearly forty downtown businesses who will welcome visitors in their places of businesses from noon to 7pm on Saturday. Many are having special sales and serving refreshments.

There will be live performances on the city show mobile stage by the Peekskill City Singers, the Arts 10566 Youth Choir and Renowned Singer/Entertainer of Classic Pop Favorite's Doug Ferony. WHUD radio's Kacey Morabito will MC the evening and Frosty the Snowman will be appearing for photos with the kids.

The Grand Finale will feature Santa Claus arriving on Stella the Trolley, followed by the official lighting of the tree. Free refreshments are being provided by Kathleen's Tea Room courtesy the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce under the Gazebo.

The annual tree lighting is sponsored by the City of Peekskill and the Peekskill Business Improvement District, with support from the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce.

We encourage shoppers to discover our unlimited entertainment and dining options as well as specialty shops that offer personalized service. Small businesses really care about providing an exceptional customer experience," said Bill Powers, Executive Director or the Peekskill Business Improvement District.

This year the BID is introducing its first Holiday Stroll, with nearly 40 participating businesses on Saturday, December 1, 2018. “Strollers” may pick up a map at any of the participating locations, visit at least ten participating places, have the proprietor punch-hole the map, and enter to win valuable gifts. Drop off your completed map at the Evolution Gallery, 922 Main Street, Peekskill, by 7pm on December 1, 2018 to enter to win. No purchase necessary, winner will be announced on social media. The map is also available on Facebook.

There is free four parking, courtesy the City of Peekskill, in both the James Street and Nelson Avenue garages from December 1, 2018 to January 1, 2019. Street meters and surface lot meters require payment.

In addition, The Peekskill Arts Alliance Holiday Boutique opens it doors at 925 South Street, Friday, November 30 through Sunday December 2, 2018.
