PEEKSKILL, NY — The Main Street Streetscape construction project that began Monday includes replacing sidewalks and curbs on the north side of Main Street between City Hall and North Division Street.

It also includes new street trees and decorative light poles that match adjacent areas like the gazebo.

Peekskill received a $250,000 grant from New York State for the improvements.

Traffic on Main Street from Nelson Avenue to North Division Street will be restricted to one lane in alternating directions during work hours — roughly 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. — with flaggers to direct traffic.

Access to buildings and businesses with entrances on the north side of Main Street will be maintained via sidewalk ramps.

All updates regarding the project, including any schedule changes, will be posted on the City's website.
