Raffaele Confuorto, Barber, Former Peekskill Resident, Passed Away

A chapel service will be on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Marlboro Memorial Cemetery.

Raffaele Confuorto, 89, died on Friday, October 23, 2015. He was born in the Licignano section of Casalnuovo di Napoli, Italy on October 29, 1925 to his father, Nicola, a construction worker and his mother Florinda, a housewife. Raffaele learned to cut hair at a young age. He did that his whole life finally retiring four years ago at the age of 85. In Italy he had a beauty salon in Licignano and for a short while also in Acerra until he came to the US in 1965 when his aunt Giovanna DiDomenico died in Mount Vernon, NJ.

While in the US he applied for permanent residency and when he got it he came to Italy and brought the whole family to the USA on October 26, 1968. Since that time he lived in Bayonne, Jersey City, Peekskill, Mount Kisco and finally Bridgewater, NJ. He worked for several shops in New York and also owned his own shop in Jefferson Valley, NY. When he closed that shop he worked as a barber in Chappaqua and most recently in Rye, NY.

He is survived by his wife Maria, his 4 children Nicholas and his wife Joanne, Achille and his wife Renita, Gennaro and his wife Allyson and daughter Florinda and her husband Joseph, his sisters Maria and Anna, his 10 grandchildren, Marisa, Nicholas, Daniel, Achille, Michael, Andre, Tanya, Justin, Charlie and Maria and his 3 great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Julia and Blake.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, October 27th at 8PM in the Hillsborough Funeral Home, 796 US Hwy 206, Hillsborough, NJ 08844 with Pastor Rabineau from Evangel Chapel in Bridgewater officiating. A chapel service will be on Wednesday at 11am in Marlboro Memorial Cemetery. Visiting for family and friends will be Tuesday from 6pm-9pm in the funeral home.
