For Tuesday, a few thunderstorms cannot be ruled out ahead of a passing cold front later Tuesday into Tuesday night.

The passing storm system will likely bring a widespread soaking rainfall Wednesday night into Thursday in the mid-Hudson Valley. Some heavy downpours could lead to ponding of water on roadways and in urban areas.

For the rest of the region, rain is in the forecast.

AccuWeather.com forecasters said it was time to say goodbye to the dry and seasonable weather we experienced over the past weekend.

A parade of storm systems will end the tranquil weather, with rain arriving over the Hudson Valley beginning Tuesday night, AccuWeather.com meteorologist Andrew Johnson-Levine said.

While areas near and east of the Interstate 95 corridor may be spared most of Tuesday's rain, he said, by Wednesday showers will move in and the storm front will stall bringing in the heaviest rain on Thursday.
