Snow Possible Friday In Hudson Valley

The forecast is calling for measurable accumulations of snow in part of the region.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The first winter-weather event of the season Tuesday into Wednesday is being followed quickly by the second possible snow in the Hudson Valley.

Where Tuesday’s storm saw snow in the northern portion of the Hudson Valley and rain to the south, the forecast for Friday night calls for the possibility of snow throughout the region.

No weather advisories or hazardous outlooks have been issued as of mid-morning Friday, but the National Weather Service is forecasting the snow to move in from the west beginning in Rockland County.

The forecast for New City calls for a slight chance of rain and snow showers before 7 p.m. Friday, then scattered snow showers between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Northern Westchester County could see snow showers between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Friday, and southern Westchester could see them before 10 p.m.

The mid-Hudson Valley is forecast to have snow showers before 10 p.m. and is the only part of the region that could have measurable accumulations: less than a half inch.

All in all, we should be thankful or — for those of you who love snow — disappointed. In southwestern St. Lawrence County, which is near the Canadian border, there is a lake effect snow warning until 7 a.m. Sunday calling for 2 or more inches of snow per hour through Saturday morning.
