Tinted Car Windows Led To Arrest Of Cortlandt Man: Yorktown Police

YORKTOWN, NY — A Cortlandt resident who police allege was driving around Yorktown in a car with deeply tinted side windows now faces multiple charges.

According to police, at 4:12 p.m. Friday, an officer on routine patrol observed a vehicle traveling Eastbound on Route 202 with non-transparent side windows.

After a traffic stop on Route 118 near Downing Drive, an investigation and computer check at the scene revealed that the driver's driving privilege and his vehicle's registration in the State of New York was suspended for failure to answer a summons and insurance lapse, police said.

Juan D. Dumanaula Ayala of 251 Lafayette Ave. in Cortlandt Manor faces three charges:

  • Aggravated Unlicensed Operator in the 3rd Degree, an Unclassified Misdemeanor
  • Operating with a Suspended Registration, an Unclassified Misdemeanor
  • Side Windows Non-Transparent, a Traffic Infraction

The 37-year-old was released on his own recognizance with appearance tickets. He is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court April 25.
