Two Hen Hud Sophomore Swimmers Head to State Finals

Sullivan and Siegel are off to Ithaca

Hendrick Hudson High School is sending a pair of sophomore swimmers to the New York State Girls Swimming Championships in Ithaca on Friday, Nov. 21 and Saturday, Nov. 22. Lauren Siegel and Emily Sullivan currently are swimmers on the Hen Hud–Croton-Somers merged team coached by Kevin Flynn. Emily and Lauren have participated on the varsity team since their middle school years.

Emily Sullivan will be returning to the state finals for the second consecutive year, while Lauren makes her inaugural appearance this year. Both Emily and Lauren have qualified for the state meet as members of the 200m Medley Relay team, along with their teammates, Skylar Adams and Rachel Townsend of Somers High School. Emily handles the butterfly stroke in the relay, while Lauren takes on the freestyle. This relay team broke a school record last year.

Emily has also qualified for states in the 200m Individual Medley, where she holds a school record as well. Emily also holds school records in 100m Butterfly, 500m Free, and 100m Breast.

Hendrick Hudson Athletic Director Tom Baker was very excited for their accomplishments and was looking forward to them enjoying their experience at the state meet. “Emily and Lauren are both highly decorated swimmers for our team. They have represented Hen Hud so well across the section, and I couldn’t be happier for two of them as they head up to Ithaca this weekend. I wish them the best of luck and hope they really enjoy their experience there, with so many other accomplished swimmers from across the state.”
