Pelham Swimmer Kate Douglass Brings Home The Gold In 200M Breaststroke

The Westchester swimmer, who attends the University of Virginia, already has a silver medal from the Paris games.

PELHAM, NY — Pelham's Kate Douglass has earned a gold medal at the 2024 Olympic Games to accompany the silver medal she already won at this year's games in Paris.

She won her firs- ever Olympic gold medal today in the 200-meter breaststroke. The Team USA swimmer won a silver medal with the 4x100-meter freestyle team.

Douglass won the bronze medal in the 200-meter individual medley at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics.

Douglass credited her teammates with inspiring her to achieve her Olympic dreams.

"We all feed off each others’ successes," Douglass told the Associated Press. "It’s just showing that there’s a great future for U.S. swimming out there."

The two-time Olympian graduated from Pelham Memorial High School and is now at the University of Virginia.
