Q: How long have you been a teacher at the school, what grade/subject and where did you teach before?

A: I have been at Briarcliff Middle School for 22 years, mostly teaching eighth grade Social Studies. I have also taught sixth, seventh and 10th grades over the years. Previously, I was at Staples High School in Westport, CT for six years.

Q: What are some memorable moments from your career at the school?

A: My favorite memory was a small class we called the Karaoke Room. When students were doing independent work, we would put on music and sing along. Other memorable moments were on field trips – students finding relatives on the Wall of Honor at Ellis Island, walking across Walkway Over the Hudson on a beautiful fall day, running around getting sunburned at Playland or Camp Kiwi. Teaching through the pandemic was also unforgettable, of course.

Q: Do you have any advice to offer to a teacher starting out?

A: This is really hard work!

Q: What are your plans for retirement?

A: Travel, spend time with family and friends, take naps with my dogs.

Q: If you can pass any wisdom to your students what would it be?

A: My motto is: Don’t panic! Whatever it is, we will work through it.

Q: What is your favorite quote?

A: “Whatever you are, be a good one.” – Abraham Lincoln
