PLEASANTVILLE, NY — PCTV's annual End of Summer Party will celebrate the end of summer with food, music, and fun, and give out this year's Making a Difference Award to Jolina and Brian Halloran of Break The Hold.

The foundation was created in 2018 by the Halloran family, friends and supporters after their son Brian Thomas Halloran, Pleasantville High School class of 2017, died by suicide in his second semester of college. Its goal is to provide resources and educational programming on mental wellness to high school youth and parents throughout Westchester.

BTH is currently in four Westchester school districts: Pleasantville, Mount Pleasant, Elmsford and Scarsdale and offers a model other districts can use.

"We build resilience and reduce the risk of suicide through education, advocacy and raised awareness about depression and other mental health challenges," foundation officials say on the website. "Our program is focused on teaching Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which is evidence-based training for emotional regulation. DBT uses mindfulness strategies to manage emotions, increasing a persons tolerance to negative emotions."
