Saturday's Forecast: 100% Summer!

Pleasantville Farmers Market is open Saturdays, 8:30am - 1:00pm

All of a sudden summer's here and so many fresh and exciting items are arriving at Pleasantville Farmers Market!

Our farms have spring rhubarb, snap peas, carrots, and crisp greens (including escarole, arugula, spinach, and mesclun). Gajeski Produce, Mead Orchards, and Wright's Farm have ripe strawberries! Little Seed Gardens' chard and kale are terrific this year. New Mimomex Farm is introducing items such as chamomile (dry some to make tea) and purslane (used in many Mexican recipes, and great in salads). Edgwick Farm will have their irresistible pairing of blueberry compote and soft goat cheese on Saturday. Bobolink Dairy & Bakehouse has a perfect Jean-Louis cheese out now. Hudson River Apiaries has great honey, and now carries pure maple syrup from Soukup Farms. Trotta Foods paired up with River Valley Community Grains to create a special batch of whole wheat Mafaldine (beautiful ribbons of pasta). Braised Pies has our attention and this week their introducing Mini Cheesy Beef Pies! Woven Stars Farm has fresh chicken (whole & parts) this week -- so clean off the grill! Warwick Valley Winery and Manor Sangria are in with wines and more. Strudel House has us hooked on starting our day with a slice of their new cheese strudel, and we love ending the day with a slice of a Wright's Farm fruit pie. The River Garden is creating gorgeous bouquets, each a celebration. And this is the LAST Saturday to get your plants for the patio and flower beds from Simply Planted Greenhouses!

Really all our farmers and food artisans are working double time to launch a season full of exciting offerings for you and your family. So leap into the season. Summer is here, and it's at the Market!

June is National Dairy Month! A perfect time to give a shout out to our fantastic roster of dairy farms. The Market has four farms with ideal production methods and they provide admirable care for their pastured herds. Chaseholm Farm Creamery, Edgwick Farm and Bobolink Dairy & Bakehouse produce excellent cheeses, and Kriemhild Dairy Farms specializes in grassfed milk and butters. All four dairy farms are visiting this week. Speak to each for ideas on the many ways to enjoy their delicious products.

Lead Sponsor Northwell Health Tip:

"Arugula is a leafy green containing nutrients such as beta-carotene and vitamin C. Arugula is also a good source for calcium. When making salads at home, consider choosing a variety of leafy greens. Using these greens in salads and on sandwiches creates a more nutritious meal." Brought to you by Northern Westchester and Phelps, your local Northwell hospitals.

The Market has been selling its orange, reusable handled bags for years, but shoppers have asked for mesh bags too. The Market now (finally!) offers high-quality, machine washable mesh bags, made with 100% recycled material. Avoid ordering mesh bags online (requiring individual packing material and a delivery truck using fossil fuels) by purchasing yours at the Manger's Tent -- better for the environment! Overall, we hope these bags can prove convenient for our customers and lessen the use of roll bags at our produce vendors' booths.
