Port Washington Residents Sound Off on Snow Plowing

How have the roads in your neighborhood fared during the blizzard? Find out what your neighbors said on Facebook.

Winter Storm Jonas brought over a foot on snow to most of Long Island with a half dozen towns gaining totals of over 2 feet.

The blizzard led to travel bans on both the Long Island Expressway and the Northern State Parkway, while LIRR service was suspended until Monday morning.

While the bans are currently lifted, the LIRR is still facing sizable delays and numerous Long Island school districts announced closures as the island works to dig itself out of this weekend’s blizzard.

We asked Patch readers how they felt about the plowing done on their block. Here’s what you said:

  • “Just like every storm the roads are a disaster.”
  • “Couldn’t ask for anything better.”
  • “Manhasset Isle looks very nice, a few touch ups needed but pavement visible in plenty of places. The wood streets are crazy. Cambridge is worse then a dirt road during mud season. I drove every block in Manorhaven and you know the one thing I didn’t see.....a plow. Not one! Where are they?”
  • “We are behind mounds of snow and this is not safe. Emergency vehicles are getting stuck.”
  • “Manorhaven should be ashamed. I was completely plowed in. I had a 4 foot wall of snow in front of my driveway. “
