Port Washington Storm Coverage and Updates
- Long Island Snow Totals— Two towns topped the 2-foot mark, according to unofficial National Weather Service reports.
- Travel Ban to Be Lifted Sunday Morning, 30+ Inch Snow Totals Likely on Long Island— Two storm-related deaths have been reported. The Long Island Expressway and Northern State Parkway will remain closed overnight.
- Long Island Snowfall Totals (So Far)— Unofficial figures from the National Weather Service are out, but they are expected to climb considerably by the end of the day.
- The Long Island Expressway and Northern State Parkway will close Saturday afternoon. As of 2:30 p.m., all New York State roadways will be closed. The Long Island Rail Road will also stop running at 4:00 p.m.
- County Executive Ed Mangano Issued a State of Emergency on Saturday morning. “At 10:30 a.m. today, I signed an Executive Order declaring a State of Emergency in Nassau County. This declaration was ordered under an abundance of caution with respect to forecasted flooding and blizzard conditions.”

Closings and Delays:
- Traffic advisory from Nassau County Police: Nassau County is experiencing icy road conditions along with high winds, which is causing minor accidents and spin outs. Motorists are advised to stay off the roads.
- Port Washington Parking District patrons are encouraged all to avoid the District’s parking lots this weekend to make way for machines to plow snow and salt.
- The Town of North Hempstead’s Saturday Program for youth with Developmental Disabilities is cancelled Saturday.
- The Port Washington Public Library is closed Saturday.
