PWGreen - Earth Day Cleanup - Volunteers Needed

Go Green with PWGreen – Earth Day 2016 Saturday, May 7th, 10 to Noon Free T-Shirt!

In collaboration with the Town of North Hempstead and the Port Washington School District, members of PWGreen will be conducting an Earth Day cleanup on the Guggenheim Preserve, the 17-acre parcel of woods and meadow adjoining Guggenheim School, and the public is invited to participate. We will meet at 9:50 a.m. at the baseball diamond in the far corner of Guggenheim School’s playground. The Town will provide plastic bags and arrange for trash bag collection, but please bring your own work gloves and wear long pants.

This preserve is home at least 100 species of plants, native and non-native to our area. The animals that live here include owls, bats, rabbits, a huge variety of song birds, squirrels, raccoons, opossums, a fox population that has grown in recent times and, of course, many species of insects including butterflies. One mission of PWGreen is to protect natural areas and their habitats.
