Brooklyn Rapper Mook Mula Killed After 'Gambling Dispute': Police

Darnell Pettway, known as "Mookie" or "Mook Mula," was killed Saturday night.

BROOKLYN, NY — A Brooklyn rapper was shot dead over the weekend following a possible "gambling dispute," according to police sources.

Darnell Pettway, 30, known as "Mookie" or "Mook Mula," was shot just after 10 p.m. on Saturday inside the lobby of an apartment building on East 93rd Street, between Rutland Road and East New York Avenue in the Crown Heights/East Flatbush/Brownsville area, police said.

Pettway and others were gambling in the building lobby and the shooting "could be related to a gambling dispute," a police source said.

He was taken to Kings County Hospital where he died of his injuries, according to police.
