The Children’s Village Hosts Backpack Collection Campaign

The nonprofit organization hopes to brighten students' lives and help them succeed academically.

The new school year is only a few weeks away - and The Children’s Village is stepping up its campaign to ensure that students are prepared with the resources they need to succeed in the classroom.

In preparation for the upcoming academic year, The Children’s Village (CV) hopes to enrich students’ lives through the nonprofit’s annual Summertime Backpack Collection Campaign. The organization supports children and families who are involved with the foster care and juvenile justice systems in the New York metropolitan area.

“Young people need the right school supplies to achieve their goals. With your support, we aim to fill over 3,000 backpacks for the upcoming school year, empowering students with the resources they need to thrive,” said Jeremy Kohomban, President and CEO of The Children’s Village.

The initiative underscores CV’s dedication to the wellbeing of children and families through innovative programs and advocacy work. The nonprofit also strengthens and reunites families, builds community partnerships, and connects people to resources that focus on basic needs, equity, and human rights.

Anyone wishing to contribute should visit the CV’s Amazon registry to purchase school supplies directly, or can make a financial donation through the organization’s donation page.

Among the needed items: a $50 donation provides one backpack with grade-appropriate school supplies, while a $100 contribution secures a set of ten unfilled backpacks. A $175 donation provides a set of five backpacks fully stocked with school supplies, and a $250 one funds ten backpacks with school supplies.

A group of friends, family, and coworkers can support the cause through a supply drive, and The Children’s Village will provide support through every step of the process to ensure the drive’s success.
