The NYPD has suspended Tran without pay, a department spokesperson told Patch. He has been an NYPD officer since early 2021. Last year, he earned a base salary of $53,600 and received nearly $11,000 in paid overtime, according to public records.

Tran was identified as the shooter through surveillance footage, cell phone records and ballistics, authorities said.
