2 Snow Chances in the Long Island Forecast

Temperatures in the 60s Tuesday were of course just a tease. Winter is far from over.

Some spring-craved Long Islanders broke out the shorts on Tuesday as temperatures topped 60 degrees and we've got a couple more mild days on the way. Winter-like weather will return abruptly come Saturday, though, and there are two snow chances in the 7-day forecast.

The first chance of snow will come Sunday night into Monday.

"Temperatures at this time appear cold enough for a light snow event," the National Weather Service says.

A second storm system could impact the region next Tuesday and Wednesday.

"This second low appears to be the more significant than the first one, however right now temperatures appear to warm enough for rain to occur at least at coastal locations and possibly even across the inland areas," the NWS says. "The exact track of the low is still uncertain. A track closer to the coast, means more rain and one further from the coast would mean more snow."
