30th LI Maritime Museum Seafood Fest Is This Weekend: What To Know

WEST SAYVILLE, NY — If you're a seafood lover, cancel your weekend plans.

The Long Island Maritime Museum is hosting its 30th Annual Seafood Festival Saturday, Aug. 19 through Sunday, Aug. 20, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the museum grounds.

The event will feature a variety of seafood options, from "raw bars to lobster rolls", its website said.

In addition to its two main sponsors, Blue Island Oyster Company and Claws Seafood Market, the festival will host several seafood trucks and a variety of other, non-fish, food options.

Other Long Island businesses will also make a splash, including Blue Point Brewing Company, and Copa Di Vino Premium Wine.

A large lineup of musical groups will entertain the event, as you walk the summer weather on the museum grounds with a lobster roll in hand.

Local acts include Rick Eberle, The U2 Show, Southbound, American Treasure, 70's Rock Parade (formerly Billboard Live), Michelle Jameson, Roots Foundation, Endless Summer, Adam & the Metal Hawks, and That 70's Band.

An arts and crafts fair will also sell "oodles of creative and practical items that appeal to all tastes and budgets", as well as children's entertainment and games like face painting, sand art designing, and other fun activities.

"There's something for everyone," said Terry Lister-Blitman, executive director of the museum.

The Seafood Festival is the Long Island Maritime Museum's premier annual fundraiser, its website said. The museum, a 501-C-3 Not-for-profit relies on proceeds from annual fundraisers to continue its mission of educating the public on Long Island's maritime history.

The admission fee is $10 per person and children under 12 are free to enter.

Parking is available at Baymen Soccer Field at the end of Tariff Street and Cherry Avenue, or 165 Tariff Street in West Sayville. From there, you can take a free shuttle bus directly to and from the Festival. You can also take the LIRR to the Sayville Station, and hop on a free shuttle from the station to and from the festival.
