Bayport-Blue Point Schools Honored 'Best' Music Program For 10th Year

BAYPORT, NY — The Bayport-Blue Point School District is continuing to hit high notes.

The district announced its music education program was honored with the 2023 "Best Communities for Music Education" designation by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation for its 10th consecutive year.

It received the recognition for its "outstanding commitment to music education and efforts to provide access and education for all" students, a release said.

"We are proud that this is the district’s 10th consecutive year receiving this distinction from the NAMM Foundation,” Chairperson for Art and Music Paul Weber said. “This designation is a true testament to the support that the music department has consistently received from the Bayport-Blue Point community, board of education, and district administration."

A nonprofit organization supported, in part, by the National Association of Music Merchants, the NAMM Foundation‘s goal is to advance participation in music, a release said.

To receive this prestigious designation, Bayport-Blue Point’s music education department was
analyzed for funding, staffing of qualified music teachers, commitment to standards and
access to music instruction.

The Bayport-Blue Point School District is one out of 830 school districts nationwide to receive this designation.
