SAYVILLE, NY — A beloved Long Island coffee chain is coming to Sayville.

The Bean corporation announced on Thursday that construction has begun at its new site, Sayville Bean, located at 59 Main St. in West Sayville. It is expected to open sometime this summer.

The chain currently has four locations in Babylon Village, North Babylon, Patchogue, and Bay Shore.

"We are so excited to welcome The Bean to the 'Times Square' spot of our Main Street," said Sayville Chamber of Commerce President Eileen Tyznar. "Our community has missed the gathering spot where people would shop rest and see what was 'brewing' in the town. The Sayville Chamber is honored that the small business owners have chosen Sayville to set up their next successful coffee cafe."

Andrew Bell, Sayville Bean's co-owner and manager, told Patch that the location within the town completely aligns with the cafe's passion for community.

"Sayville loves its community and its small business, and we live for that kind of thing," he said. " We we just thought it would be a perfect fit."

The building was previously leased by Starbucks, which stopped operations in December 2021. Many residents took to social media, saddened by the loss.

"If anything, people will feel more connected here," said Bell. "This is going to be the kind of place where we know everyone's name and everyone's order. Before they walk in the door, we're gonna have their drink ready for them."

Bell said that Sayville Bean will feature local artwork and photographs of the town, and provide a relaxing and happy atmosphere.

"We want it to be a home away from home," he said.

To Bell, the Bean corporation already feels like a family.

For the past six years, he's worked as a barista at the Babylon Bean location. There, he met Sal Gervasi, the majority owner Babylon Bean, who connected Bell with corporation owners Charlie and Mike Ferrara.

"Sal took me under his wing over here," he said. "I'm extremely blessed to have this support system."

Bell told Patch he feels this is a "full circle" moment for him. Prior to the Bean, he worked at a Starbucks location for four years.

"I got my degree in business administration. And once I graduated, I had my sights set on opening up a coffee shop," he said.

Co-owning the new store is a "dream come true", he said.

"I've served hundreds of thousands of lattes," Bell said. "It's kind of cool that now have a shop to call my own."
