The Bristal Launches Campaign Paying Tribute to COVID-19 Heroes

A leader in assisted living launches a campaign that pays tribute to the heroes confronting COVID 19: their employees

In an era that will long be defined by a pandemic The Bristal Assisted Living is creating a campaign that pays public tribute to those employees who have stood by the thousands of residents who call these communities their home.

Maryellen McKeon, senior vice president of operations explained that The Bristal’s newest campaign publicly thanks its employees; “All of these individuals put on a mask, donned gloves, left their homes and families, and came to work so that The Bristal residents would be safe, secure, and well cared for. They were the quiet heroes on the front lines when few knew when this pandemic would peak and when every contact was problematic,” she said.

Ellen Antonucci, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for The Bristal Assisted Living, explained, “For years we have been showcasing our amenities; from spacious living quarters, to social programs, to the cuisine. While these attributes remain important in enhancing the quality of life of our residents COVID-19 has brought into dramatic relief what we have always known: it’s about the people.”

An important element of the public tribute program are open letters from The Bristal residents or their families, thanking The Bristal staff for their efforts, citing their commitment during the sustained pandemic as ‘above and beyond.”

Typical of the endorsements is: “Your dedication and caring is so greatly appreciated at all times, but especially now. With all our love, respect and admiration.” Nancy W. & Maria K. (family members)

Ms. Antonucci believes this change in marketing may easily become a permanent strategy.

She observed, “What COVID-19 has reminded everyone is that the quality of care has always been directly related to the passion and professionalism of those who come to work every day at The Bristal Assisted Living communities. I think that story needs to be front and center as people consider where they want to live. Who stood with our residents when the very decision of coming to work was a quiet but deliberate act of personal heroism? The amenities will always be important but the answer to my question may well become the determining factor for many who seek the comfort and convenience of assisted living.”
