Bruce Elton, Ex Rotary President And Fire Chief, Dies At 83

Bruce Edward Elton, a Sayville resident who served as Chief of the the Davis Park Fire Department, died on Jan. 12. He was 83.

Elton was born on April 21, 1935, and attended the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy before serving in the U.S. Navy. As as self-employed man, Elton was the owner of a commercial real estate rental business and owner of Spindrift Market in Cherry Grove, Fire Island and Saltaire Market in Saltaire, Fire Island.

He served as president of the Sayville Rotary.

He is survived by this wife, Carole; his children, Chris and his wife Linda, Victoria Hans and her husband, Paul, and Katherine Elton; his grandchildren, Reginald, Samantha, Elizabeth, Julianna, Jordyn, and Jared; and his sister, Victoria Gaiser.
