Fall Season On a Roll with Sayville Boys Varsity Golf

After an amazing Spring, which included going to States, Sayville Boys Varsity Golf team has had noteworthy accomplishments this Fall.

Last Spring, The Sayville Boys Varsity Golf team won the Counties, the Long Island Championship, and sent two members, Mike Nadeau and Ryan O’Mara, to States. Now beginning its new season, the Sayville Boys Varsity Golf team has already had some noteworthy accomplishments this Fall. Coach Sean McLaughlin reported the following about the Sayville Boys Varsity Golf team:

• Undefeated in the league 10-0, winning the League 5 championship.

• Has All-League honors (based on 9-hole scoring average for all matches, the top 10 golfers in each league receive All-League honors) were awarded to the following golfers, followed by 9-hole scoring average and their individual match record Wins-Loss-Ties.

o Mike Nadeau (37.1, 9- 1)
o Brendan Smith (39.9, 9-1)
o Brendan Haselton (39.8, 9-1)
o Sean Haselton (39, 9-1)
o Matt Danielson (41.8, 8-0-1)

• Won the League Tournament/County Qualifier with a team score of 389 (winning by 36 strokes). We placed 4 kids in the top five of the tournament.

Mike Nadeau won the tournament with a 1 over 73,
Brendan Smith was 2nd with 2 over 74,
Sean Haselton was 4th with 5 over 77,
Brendan Haselton was 5th with 6 over 78,
Matt Danielson also qualified for counties in 14th place.

The school team sport of golf is held in split seasons, i.e., league matches are played in the Fall culminating with the league/county qualifying tournament, followed in the Spring with the Counties and States. Although the season will finish in the spring, Sayville Boys Golf is off to great start.
