Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Long Island

The National Weather Service has issued the following hazardous weather outlook for Long Island:

There will be scattered thunderstorms, mainly this afternoon and this evening. There is the potential for heavy rainfall which may produce localized flash flooding. Gusty winds and lightning strikes are also threats.

The full forecast:

Tuesday- A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 84. South wind 6 to 9 mph.

Tuesday Night- Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly between 8pm and 10pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. Southwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday- A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 8am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 86. West wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Wednesday Night- A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before midnight. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. West wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Thursday- A 20 percent chance of showers after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 78. Northeast wind 7 to 10 mph becoming east in the afternoon.

Thursday Night- A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57.

Friday- A 30 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 69.

Friday Night- A 30 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 58.

Saturday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 75.
