Long Island Weather: Hour-by-Hour Snow, Sleet Forecast

It's going to be a mess out there today. Take it slow out on the roads. See the latest snow total estimates inside the story.

Recent forecasts for snow on Long Island have gone bust, but it looks like we will actually see some accumulating snow Wednesday.

A winter weather advisory will be in effect from noon until 1 a.m. Thursday in Nassau County and from 2 p.m. until 1 a.m. in Suffolk County. The latest snow total predictions from the National Weather Service call for 3-4 inches in western Nassau, 2-3 inches in eastern Nassau and western Suffolk, and 1-2 inches in eastern Suffolk.

Prepare for slippery road conditions during the Wednesday evening commute when the heaviest snow is expected. Wintry precipitation will turn to all rain Wednesday night when temperatures rise above freezing.
