Men Charged With 2nd Degree Murder After Backyard Shooting: PD

Two Suffolk County men were arrested Tuesday in connection with shooting and killing a Bohemia man in his backyard in 2022, police say.

BOHEMIA, NY —Two men were arrested Tuesday in connection with shooting and killing a Bohemia man in 2022, Suffolk County police announced.

Christopher Fernandez, 28, of Sound Beach, and Oliver Schor, 22, of Miller Place, were arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with killing Michael Hartmann outside of his Bohemia home on November 2, 2022, police said.

Hartmann, 49, was in the backyard of his Smithtown Avenue home when two people entered his yard and fired multiple shots, striking him once, at about 6:35 a.m. and died at the scene, police said.

Fernandez is being held at the Sixth Precinct and will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday, police said.

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department arrested Schor as a fugitive from justice in Lexington, South Carolina. He will be arraigned in New York on a later date, police said.
