Ellen Stuart Davis, born Dec. 28, 1937, passed away on July 29, 2015 at the age of 77. Born in
White Plains, NY, she moved to Bayport in 1954 and always considered Bayport her home, even though
she had lived in Blue Point, Patchogue, and then Port Murray, NJ in her later years. She is survived by
her sister Carolyn Maloney, her brother Ken Stuart; children Brett Davis, Ellen George (son-in-law
Steve), Heather Baker (son-in-law Mark); grandchildren Jodie and Kristin Davis, Kelsey, Jake and Holly
George, Baron, Daisy and Violet Baker.

Ellen was married to Ernie Davis, of Blue Point, for 23 years. They met at the beach in Davis Park when Ernie walked up to Ellen and said he wanted to enter her in a beauty contest that had just started at the casino. Ellen won the contest, along with a bottle of champagne, which kicked off an adventurous relationship. Their marriage was full of trips to the Caribbean, South America, Cape Cod, the Adirondacks and of course routine weekend excursions to Fire Island throughout the summers.

Ellen graduated from Bayport-Blue Point High School in 1957 and was voted as Most Artistic and Best Dancer by her classmates. She was proud to have been the Drum Majorette for the Marching Band. Ellen worked as a secretary in Manhattan for the Japanese company Mikimoto Pearls and also had the bragging rights of having the good fortune of working in the Empire State building. Ellen tirelessly performed volunteer work at the Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for many years. Ellen worked in a variety of administrative capacities at Bayport – Blue Point High School for over a decade and was always a helpful, caring and guiding confidant for many students. Her caring attitude fostered a sense of trust that many students referred to her as ‘Mom.’

Ellen eventually returned to hospital work at Stony Brook and Coram Health Center as an administrative assistant which she had retired from. Ellen’s compassion for helping others was her hallmark trait and she always felt a strong sense of accomplishment when others achieved their goals.

Ellen’s love of adventure and trying new activities was inspirational to her children, grandchildren, extended family and friends. Ellen was always the first one to encourage a family member to ‘go for it’ and venture out. This outlook on life was equally evident in her wide-ranging artistic talents. She created imaginative interior designs for home, as well as gardens. She even designed and made trendy clothes for herself and others.
