West Sayville Beach Closed to Bathing

A "no swimming advisory" has been issued for three Suffolk County beaches.

Three Suffolk County beaches are closed to bathing due to high levels of bacteria, according to Suffolk County Health Services.

The following beaches were issued a “no swimming advisory”:

  • Steers Beach in Northport
  • Prices Bend Beach in Eatons Neck
  • West Oaks Recreation Club Beach in West Sayville

Bathing in bacteria-contaminated water can cause gastrointestinal illness and infections in the eyes, ears, nose and throat, according to to Suffolk County Commissioner of Health Dr. James Tomarken.
