 Do you love manga? Graphic novels? Once a month we'll meet at the Bridgehampton Starbucks to discuss a specific book! Each title will be raffled away to one participant. Each participant will receive a $5 Starbucks gift card to purchase a drink or snack of their choice, redeemable the day of the program. Selected book titles will be available for checkout -- teens will need an active library card. Space is limited, registration is required.

Our 22nd annual Surf Movie Night fundraiser will be on Thursday, September 12 on the lawn at the Southampton Arts Center, so bring your beach chairs and blankets. Doors open at 5:30 pm with an auction, food, beer, live music, and more! Short films begin at dusk. Early-bird tickets start at $20 for adults and $10 for kids under 12. Proceeds support our work for clean water and healthy beaches. Three evenings of intimate outdoor concerts with some of the world's award-winning artists in the perfect late-summer, early-fall weather with local artisanal wine, beer, seafood and BBQ. Truly, a rare opportunity to experience jazz and blues pioneers, Grammy Award-winning icons, and the future sounds of soul from their roots in the Crescent City to their collaborations in the Big Apple.

"At the Quantum Leap Music Festival, NOLA 2 NOFO LLC and I will present a wide stylistic range of New Orleans' greatest musical artists in their respective styles. The first day is a jazz, blues, funk, soul-drenched, dance-oriented, jazzy bounce hip-hop party. The second day features traditional jazz and modern jazz, with touches of soul. The third day showcases zydeco, cajun, and other New Orleans music. This inaugural festival has something for everyone and will expose styles of music you may not have heard before, but you will leave loving. You can chill, dance, or party, as the festival bridges aspects of many of your favorite festivals into one intimate space at the historic Borghese Vineyard &amp; Winery in the beautiful early Fall setting of North Fork, Long Island." ~ Big Chief Donald Harrison Jr, Festival Artistic Director

Join us for a special discussion on the release of Mothers of Invention: The Feminist Roots of Contemporary Art, by writers and curators Eleanor Heartney, Helaine Posner, Nancy Princenthal, and Sue Scott. Released this summer, Mothers of Invention: The Feminist Roots of Contemporary Art explores the lineages of performance, abstraction, craft, and ecofeminism in ways that demonstrate the debt these crucial genres owe to the work of pioneering women artists. As well as tracing our themes to the present, we recognize foundational figures—mothers of invention—in each, including Marina Abramović, Lenore Tawney, Pat Steir, and Mierle Ukeles.
Mothers of Invention: The Feminist Roots of Contemporary Art is the latest product of a twenty-year collaboration following After the Revolution: Women who Transformed Contemporary Art, an in-depth examination of the work of twelve contemporary women artists from diverse generations, media and backgrounds, and The Reckoning: Women Artists of the New Millennium, which focuses on a larger group of younger women artists.
The panel will include authors Eleanor Heartney, Helaine Posner, Nancy Princenthal, and Sue Scott, and artist Suzanne McClelland, who is a Parrish Collection artist and featured in the book. The conversation will be followed by a signing in the Museum Shop and Lobby.
