SOUTHAMPTON, NY —An elderly dog chasing geese was rescued from an inlet in Southampton Wednesday morning, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, at about 9:18 a.m., bay constables got a call from the Sebonac Inlet about a 15-year-old Border collie who'd swum more than 1,000 feet from shore in pursuit of geese. The conditions were rainy and turbulent, with minimum visibility, police said.
