LONG ISLAND, NY — Sunday's balmy, sunny skies over Long Island were short-lived, with the week ahead slated to be soggy.

According to James Connolly at the National Weather Service office in Upton, Monday's temperatures will be the highest of the week, in the mid 50s, with light, spotty rainy expected, especially in Nassau County.

Tuesday will bring periods of heavy rain that are slated to last through Wednesday night, with totals of about 2.15 inches, with more possible, depending on the track of the low system, he said.
