Motorcyclist Crashes Into State Trooper's Vehicle In Hamptons: PD

The motorcycle had been traveling on the shoulder before striking the trooper's car, police say.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A motorcyclist crashed into a New York State Trooper's vehicle in Southampton Friday, police said.

According to New York State Police, the crash took place at 6:52 a.m. when a motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on the right shoulder on Sunrise Highway. A trooper was trying to get the motorcyclist back into the flow of traffic when the driver lost control and struck the marked state police vehicle in the passenger side rear bumper, police said.

The motorcyclist was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries; the trooper sustained minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital, police said.
