National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day is a day of “light hearted fun and a day to be yourself and not that buttoned up corporate version of yourself you have grown to despise,” according to their website,

Most importantly, National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day is a day to make the holidays fun.

Today, the day is also an international sensation and raising money for children in need.

Recently, the National Ugly Christmas Sweater organization partnered with Save the Children, an organization that gives children a healthy start, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm.

Anyone can help this cause by agreeing to wear a festive holiday sweater on or around December 12, donate $5 or more to Save the Children and spread the holiday joy!

To celebrate this festive holiday, according to the National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day, you can:

1) BUY AN UGLY CHRISTMAS SWEATER

2) WEAR YOUR SWEATER FOR THE ENTIRE DAY

Rock your sweater all day and all night, from the time you wake up till the time you sleep. No breaks. No copouts. No excuses. The sweater must stay on.

3) SHARE THIS DAY WITH YOUR FRIENDS
