Obituary: Paul Brian Beatty, of Southampton, Dies at 81

The grandfather of 13 passed away on June 28.

Paul Brian Beatty died surrounded by his family in Southampton on June 28. He was 81.

Beatty was born on January 11, 1934, in Brooklyn to James and Bride Beatty.

He grew up in Queens where he graduated from St. John’s Preparatory and later went on to attend Niagara University.

He spent his summers as a life guard on the shores of Breezy Point before having his long and distinguished career in publishing and advertising field where he was a consummate sales leader.

Beatty volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister and was an active parishioner of Sacred Heart R.C. Church in Southampton, and was a long time active parishioner at St. Anne’s R.C. Church in Garden City.

He was an avid golfer and member of the Southampton Golf Club and was especially fond of his summer vacation spot which eventually became his permanent residence – North Sea Beach Colony (NSBC) in Southampton.

For Beatty, his family and his faith were first, last, and always. He lived his life fully, loved all, laughed often, was always humble, and made all around him better for having known him.

He is predeceased by his parents, his brother, James Kevin Beatty, and his sister, Mary Denise Beatty.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Audrey; his children Kathleen Beatty of East Hampton, Paul Beatty Jr. of Garden City, Maureen Duggan of Southport, CT, Kevin Beatty of Summit, NJ, and Maribeth Quinn of Garden City, and his daughter-in-laws and sons-in-law, Pam Beatty, Patrick Duggan, Meg Beatty, and Justin Quinn.

He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren, Bridget, Claire, and Kathleen Beatty, Conor, Kara, and Lizzie Duggan, Jack, Kevin, and Colin Beatty, and Michael, Emily, Drew, and Owen Quinn, his sister Patricia McNulty, and sister in-laws Connie Beatty and Sister Shamus Eileen Dwyer O. P.

Visitation took place on Wednesday, July 1 at the O’Connell Funeral Home in Southampton and services took place on Thursday, July 2 at the Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts RC Church.
