Ann Welker Sweeps Suffolk 2nd Legislative District Race

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — Democrat Ann Welker has won the seat for Suffolk County legislator in the 2nd District, currently held by Bridget Fleming, by a wide margin.

According to unofficial results by the Suffolk County Board of Elections, Welker, who ran against Republican candidate Manuel Vilar for the seat, won with 11,262 votes, or 61.41 percent; Vilar received 7,075, or 38.58 percent.

Suffolk County's 2nd Legislative District is comprised of the entire South Fork and includes the Towns of Southampton and East Hampton, as well as Shelter Island and parts of Brookhaven Town’s East Moriches and Eastport.
