Renowned Child Advocate Guiding LI Students On 'Shaping Good Behavior'

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A world-renowned child advocate and public speaker spent time with Southampton students recently.

Frank Kros has been working with parents and students at Southampton Intermediate School through a series of grant-funded workshops, the district said.

"Kros has been engaging students in discussions about the decision-making processes and student brain development. With parents, he has been talking about shaping good behavior," the district said.

According to his bio at Kros Learning Group, Kros is a career child advocate, who has served as a childcare worker, child abuse investigator, children’s home administrator, consultant, professor, attorney, writer and speaker.

Before he created Kros Learning Group in April, 2019, Kros served for 18 years as an officer and executive of the Children’s Guild Alliance, a children’s organization headquartered in Maryland. He also served the Guild as president of the Transformation Education Institute and Director of the National At-Risk Education Network.

Kros, a worldwide speaker, focuses on “Helping You Help Others.” According to Kros, that can be accomplished through an understanding of neuroscience and its applications to everyday practices involving children, youth, and the adults who parent, counsel, and educate them.

Kros was trained by principal investigator Dr. Robert Anda on the Adverse Childhood Experiences Study and added the title of “Master ACEs Trainer” to his bio in 2018, his bio said.
