Southampton Town Supervisor Declares Snow Emergency

BREAKING: The snow emergency goes into effect at midnight.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — As a winter storm prepares to blast the East End, Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman has declared a snow emergency.

"In light of anticipated conditions resulting from the forecast for heavy snow, high winds and coastal flooding in the next 24 hours, Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman has declared a snow emergency effective at midnight tonight," a release from the town said.

"The snow emergency will remain in effect throughout the day tomorrow, Tuesday, March 14. Motorists are encouraged to remain off the road during the snow emergency and to exercise extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary."

In addition, residents are also encouraged to go to the Southampton Town website for additional information about weather conditions as well as information regarding local emergency services.

Power outages or downed wires should be reported directly to PSEG at 1-800-490-0075. Southampton Town Hall and all town facilities will be closed Tuesday.
