SOUTHEAST, NY — Independence Day is quickly approaching, which means it's time to fire up that barbecue and find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on around Brewster for 2023.

We gathered up fireworks shows, parades and festivals happening close by so you can start planning now.

The Town of Southeast Fireworks Committee, a team of volunteers from local government, business, and civic organizations, present its annual fireworks "extravaganza" July 2 on Independent Way. Music with a DJ starts at 6 p.m. in the parking lot in front of DiCicco’s, with fireworks scheduled to begin around 9:25 p.m.

Use the parking lots in the Highlands Shopping Center. There will be additional parking available down the hill at the Southeast Train Station with trolley service available to the Kohl’s parking lot.
"Please remember this is private property and we are fortunate to use the property with the permission of the owners. Please be considerate of the property. Please do not leave trash behind when you leave. There will be trash bins and a dumpster available," the committee said. Check the Facebook page for updates.

Don’t miss your chance to see fireworks at eye level from 212 feet above the Hudson River on the World’s Longest Elevated Pedestrian Bridge. On July 4, Walkway Over the Hudson will be open to ticket holders for an unobstructed view of the City of Poughkeepsie fireworks display. Space is strictly limited at this event and tickets required for all attendees. Children 12 and under are free but must reserve a ticket online in advance for admittance. Tickets sell out every year and will not be available for purchase on-site during the event. Secure your tickets at walkway.org/firworks.

Playland in Rye: From Saturday, July 1 to Tuesday, July 4, Playland will be open with the amusement park hours from 11 am to 10 pm, as well as Playland Beach & Pool from 10 am to 6 pm. Fireworks for both nights on July 3 and 4 will begin at 9:15 pm. Playland will officially open a new installation on Sunday. The new Play! Verse includes different thematic rooms that feature LED light shows, interactive infinity mirror tricks, and more, creating a multi-sensory and dynamic photo ops for all.

Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Show 2023 begins at 8 p.m. on NBC and streamed on Peacock. Stars, music, fireworks from barges in the East River.
