Gunman Sticks Up UES Smoke Shop, Police Say

A store on Third Avenue and East 90th Street was robbed by a scooter-riding gunman.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A scooter-riding gunman robbed an Upper East Side smoke shop, making out with thousands in stolen cash, an NYPD spokesperson said.

The robber entered the store on Third Avenue between East 89th and 90th streets on Saturday night and threatened a 48-year-old employee with a handgun, police said. The stickup man ordered the worker to hand him $6,300 in cash from the register, a cell phone and a pair of earphones, police said.

Following the robbery, the suspect fled the scene on a scooter, police said.
