UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Another Upper East Side storefront is soon to be empty space.

Gerry’s Place, an Irish bar that opened only in March 2023, is now closing its doors for good, according to a message shared by the eatery.

"It is with an incredibly heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of Gerry’s Place NYC," the message reads. "We fought diligently to keep our establishment alive and booming, but the ever rising costs of keeping the doors open post-pandemic have made it impossible for us to do so."

The pub at 1664 Third Avenue between 93rd and 94th Streets opened on March 15, 2023, two days before St. Patrick's Day, replacing the former tenant, O'Flanagan's, an Irish bar, which had closed about a week earlier.

Gerry's Place served traditional American cuisine with an Irish twist, including shepherd's pie and fish and chips, as well as pub favorites like wings, nachos, and loaded fries.

The bar was also known for its reasonable prices and weekly entertainment, which included live music, themed nights, trivia, and other activities. The Upper East Side site also had a private event space for larger gatherings or special events.

"It has always been our goal at Gerry’s to bring people together through good food, exciting cocktails, and tantalizing entertainment. And we thank our loyal clientele, who have continuously supported us along this journey. We will forever grateful for the loyalty shown to us during our tenure on 3rd Avenue," reads the post.

Gerry Fox, the owner, co-owns a Gerry's Place location in Norwood, New Jersey, which debuted in November 2017 alongside fellow restaurateur Gerry McGwyne.
