UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A man was arrested Wednesday months after an elderly man was hit and killed by a van on the Upper West Side, police said.

Jose Naula Remache, 45, was charged with motor vehicle failure to yield to a pedestrian, police said.

Two days later, though, the 74-year-old died from his injuries, police said.

Rodriguez-Albuquerque, a Dominican immigrant, was a resident of the West Side Federation for Senior Housing facility on the Upper West Side.

“He was awesome, always looking out for us. He treated us like we were his other kids," one of the staff members told the New York Daily News at the time.
