Car Strikes Man On UWS, Goes Up Onto Broadway Mall: Police

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A black SUV struck a man walking on the Upper West Side Thursday morning, before getting stuck on the Broadway mall in the middle of the street, police said and video shows.

A man was walking across Broadway and West 81st Street around 8:25 a.m., when he was hit by the car, police said.

A spokesperson from the NYPD told Patch that the man's injuries were not life-threatening.

Video posted to the Citizen app shows the car lodged onto the Broadway medium after the accident, which you can watch by clicking — here.

Police were called to the scene both in response to the collision and to help get the car down from the mall separating the west and east side of Broadway.

NYPD did not have information as of 11 a.m. Thursday on how the collision happened.
