On Thursday, April 4, 2024, Friends of New York City Nurse-Family Partnership, a nonprofit organization empowering first-time moms, joined forces with Mom's the Word to present a one-of-a-kind Charity Cabaret at Christ Saint Stephen's Church on the Upper West Side. This event, unlike any other, was a night to remember!

Ellen Cohen, vice president of the Board of Friends of New York City Nurse-Family Partnership (NYC NFP) and a long-time Upper West Side resident, along with her musical group, Mom's the Word, featuring Dana Covey and Erika Radin, took the stage and performed their hearts out. Ellen, who has been on the Board of Friends since its inception said, "Two of my favorite things in the world are Friends and performing in Mom’s the Word. Being able to do one while benefiting the other was a great joy and I’m so thankful to everyone who came and contributed to a wonderful evening”

The entertainers shared personal experiences that most mothers encounter throughout their journey of motherhood through their performances. With a comedic twist, they danced, sang, and acted out harmonious parodies. The performance was not just about entertainment but about connecting with the audience on a deeper level. Every parent in the room could relate to the highs and lows of parenthood, and this shared understanding created a strong bond.

The key to everyone's heart is entertainment. However, Mom's The Word Cabaret is much more than a lyrical skit. They are a group of mothers who know that motherhood would be impossible without laughter, and they graciously shared their laughs with our community to help raise money for new moms in the NYC NFP Program.

Thanks to the generous support of our community, Friends raised just over seven thousand dollars through ticket sales and donations. These funds will make a significant difference in the lives of new mothers and our community. They will be used to support Friends of NYC NFP programs, continuing our mission of breaking generational poverty and providing a supportive environment for new mothers.
