UPPER WEST SIDE, NY - Fresh coffee roasts by way of the Balkans, grab-and-go deli fare near Central Park and upscale American cuisine inside the New York Historical Society are just some of the newest edible additions arriving to the Upper West Side.

Here’s what’s opened - or is slated to open - on the Upper West Side in the coming months:

BeamBar (290 Columbus Ave. between 73rd and 74th streets)

  • The scoop: BeamBar, a full-service teeth whitening studio, has expanded its Bleecker Street headquarters into the Upper West Side with a location at the former NYC Barber Shop Museum between 73rd and 74th streets.
  • Opened: September 2023

Clara (2 West 77th St.)

  • The scoop: Inspired by Tiffany lamp designer Clara Driscoll and New York City turn-of-the-century history, Clara serves up contemporary American fare in a white tablecloth dining room inside the New York Historical Society. You can view a menu here.
  • Opened: October 2023

Key Food (2401 Broadway between West 88th and 89th streets)

  • The scoop: The new store occupies a 7,200 space at the former home of a Duane Reade store that closed during the pandemic and is Key Food’s seventh Manhattan location. Offerings include fresh produce, juices, meats and dairy products, plus a full-service deli and hot food and salad bar.
  • Opened: Oct. 12

Glowbar (805 Columbus Ave. between West 99th and 100th streets)

  • The scoop: Glowbar sets itself apart by providing custom 30-minute targeted treatments - not spa facials - from licensed estheticians for one flat rate, according to its website. Rates start at $55 for members and $75 for non-members. Members get one treatment a month, one guest pass per year, access to exclusive events, 10 percent off at retail and more.
  • Opened: Oct. 20

Picky Barista (245 West 72nd St.)

  • The scoop: Picky Barista opened its fourth Manhattan location on 72nd Street this month, complete with a full-service hot and iced coffee bar, all-day breakfast menu and homemade pastries. The café, located between Broadway and West End, is helmed by the same owner as Peaky Barista. The new name will be used at the chain’s other locations on the Upper West and the Upper East Side “throughout the next few months,” owner Dragan Bulic said in a statement.
  • Opened: Oct. 22

Variazioni (2321 Broadway between West 84th and 85th streets)

  • The scoop: Discount women's clothing retailer Variazioni has moved out of 2321 Broadway less than a year after it opened. Per Google, the store is listed as “permanently closed” as of Oct. 31. The space was formerly occupied by Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.
  • Closed: October 2023

Mom’s Food Market (321 Manhattan Ave. between West 110th and 111th streets)

  • The scoop: 24-hour grocery store Mom’s Food Market is serving up fresh deli eats, as well as grab-and-go drinks, snacks and home essentials at the former site of Starbucks on West 110th Street. An eat-in counter with seating offers views overlooking the street across from Central Park.
  • Opened: October 2023

Chipotle (2575 Broadway between 96th and 97th streets)

  • The scoop: Chipotle Mexican Grill will be opening its newest location on the Upper West Side near 97th Street on Nov. 1, a company spokesperson told Patch. The new site will feature a walk-up window for those picking up digital orders. For a limited time, customers at the new location will be able to try Chipotle’s Carne Asada.
  • Opening Date: Nov. 1

Yellow Submarine (512 Columbus Ave. between West 84th and 85th streets)

    • The scoop: Yellow Submarine, a hair salon specializing in “non-toxic hair care” for children of all ages is set to open next month, according to the business’ social media page. The salon will feature a sensitive, friendly design to address the needs of children with ASD, ADHD and other sensory difficulties, its website reads. Private sensitive service hours are also available upon request.
    • Opening Date: Nov. 3

Duane Reade (1889 Broadway between West 62nd and 63rd streets)

  • The scoop: The Duane Reade’s pharmacy location will be closing at 1889 Broadway next month, a store representative confirmed to Patch. Prescriptions will be transferred to the store’s sister location at 4 Amsterdam Ave.; customers can transfer prescriptions to other pharmacies by visiting the 1889 Broadway location in-person before the closure, a representative said. A store employee cited several reasons for the closing, including expensive infrastructure repairs and numerous thefts.
  • Closing date: Nov. 9

Malka (161 West 72nd St.)

  • The scoop: Located at the former site of Shani’s North Miznon restaurant, Malka will feature a fully kosher menu that will be refreshed regularly. The location will be Malka's second, with the first having opened in Tel Aviv in 2018. A sample menu from Malka’s sister site in Tel Aviv features bruschetta with avocado vandies, potato salad, charred asparagus and horseradish aioli, charcoal-roasted beet Carpaccio and lamb Kebab with a herb focaccia and field vegetables.   • Opening date: Nov. 16

Parla (320 Columbus Ave. between West 75th and 76th streets)

  • The scoop: Parla, the new New York-style pizza and cocktail joint helmed by the team behind The Smith restaurants, is “coming soon” to the UWS, according to its new Instagram page. The 30-seat eatery located at the former site of Saffron will also serve baked goods for breakfast. Expect a program of espresso, wine and cocktails at Parla's 14-seat bar, alongside a selection of amari and vermouth.
  • Opening date: Mid-November

Sempre Oggi (164 W. 75th St.)

  • The scoop: Sempre Oggi is slated to move into the former site of ‘Cesca next month, as first reported by the West Side Rag. Backed by restaurateur Robert Guarino of 5 Napkin Burger and Playa Betty’s, the restaurant and bar will feature mirrored columns and a tiled bar.
  • Opening date: November 2023

Haven (226 W. 79th St.)

  • The scoop: Signage is now up for Haven, a new “polished-casual” neighborhood restaurant and bar at the site of the former Aussie eatery Burke & Wills. Expect twists on familiar favorites, like miso soup with matzoh balls, in a 38-seat dining room. It's the first endeavor for chef/owner Brian Staub and his team.
  • Opening date: Fall 2023

The Granola Bar (551 Amsterdam Ave. between West 86th and 87th streets)

  • The scoop: The Granola Bar is bringing its "day-to-night cafe and restaurant" concept to the Upper West Side in what will be its first New York City location. The Connecticut-based chain is set to offer wraps, salads, granola, pasta, baked goods and even cocktails. Check out a menu here.
